Glossary

Component UUID

The identifier generated for a component during installation. Used to identify the component to other components — for example, it forms part of the szID hostname, and is listed in TrustedNodeInstances so main trusts the API/BFF components that hold it.

SNI (TLS Server Name Indication)

An extension to TLS where a client indicates which hostname it is attempting to connect to at the start of the handshaking process.

SSI

Synkzone's integration interface, accessed via the REST API. See the API documentation.

szID

The per-Organization DNS hostname (sz<UUID>.world.example.com) clients resolve to reach an Organization, where <UUID> is the Organization's main component UUID.

Example

szex4mpl318d4f4c9ba2e37f5c1b9d3e6a.world.example.com → 203.0.113.20

szworld

The fixed szworld.example.com CNAME, published under the Organization's domain, that clients resolve to discover the World.

Example

szworld.example.com → CNAME → world.example.com

World root certificate

The World's CA certificate. The World holds the private key and uses it to sign Organization certificates and organization settings; the public part is bundled with clients so they can verify an Organization they've never contacted before.
